Solstice Circle: Founders of LIGHT
The Winter Solstice is an important day for LIGHT Movement.
In 2023, Founder Amy Pickett-Williams sought to spread hope on the darkest day of the year, and a group of dedicated volunteers, including representatives from numerous faith traditions, hosted A Night To Illuminate Grief on December 21, 2023 at First Plymouth Worship and Well Being Center. The in-person event was livestreamed and attracted a global audience, helping hundreds of people during their grief journeys.
The event was so well-received and impactful that LIGHT will continue to host it each year on the evening of December 21. This non-religious event will always be free to attend and is open to everyone.
Because the day and event are so special to LIGHT, we have decided to open the Solstice Circle: The Founders of LIGHT between December 21, 2024 and December 21, 2025.

What is the Solstice Circle?
The Solstice Circle is the group of LIGHT’s founding members. These are the individuals who believe in the mission of LIGHT and the healing support that it can bring to those experiencing grief, despite the organization's young age.

What are the requirements to join the Solstice Circle?
The Solstice Circle is open to the first 1,221 donors who donate at least $1,221 to LIGHT. This donation does not need to be given in a lump sum. It can be split into monthly donations of $101.75 or another payment system.
Additionally, pledges are welcome. Feel free to contact us if you plan to donate $1,221 but are unsure if you can finish your donation before December 21, 2025.
There are no other requirements to join the Solstice Circle and become a founding member of LIGHT.

What are the benefits of joining the Solstice Circle?
In addition to the genuine gratitude by LIGHT’s directors and volunteers, founding member gain access to the following benefits:
-
You can opt to receive recognition for your donation through our website, newsletter, and social media. Of course, anonymous and unrecognized donations are also welcome.
-
The majority of LIGHT programming uses a pay-what-you-can model. However, founding members received a 10% discount on all programming that uses a more traditional model such as trainings and summer camp sessions.
-
You’ll have the opportunity to share your grief journey on LIGHT’s blog.
-
When LIGHT merch becomes available, founding donors will receive a discount on all purchases.
-
Additional benefits may be specified in the future.

LIGHT Movement is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax-exempt.

Can I give an in-memory or honorarium gift?
Absolutely. In fact, in-memory donations can be in honor of any type of grief. Often, these donations are meant to honor an individual who has passed, but LIGHT recognizes all types of grief including the loss of safety, independence, health, and career. You’re welcome to donate for any reason that you feel will help you with your grief journey or help someone else with theirs.
If you would like LIGHT to notify someone of a gift in their honor, please provide us with their contact information in the donation's comment field or by emailing us directly.

Will you ever reopen the Solstice Circle?
No. Once 1,221 people have donated to the Circle, the Circle will be full. This limitation allows us to form a greater connection with our founding members, as their support provides a pivotal role in furthering LIGHT’s mission so early in its history.

Can I support LIGHT without joining the Solstice Circle?
Of course! Please feel free to support LIGHT through monetary donations, in-kind donations, attending a class, or telling others about us.
